Justin Cross, artist & entrepreneur, has experienced this fate.
His entire existence was built on a belief system tied to a mainstream cult. He lived a life of social isolation, control, shame and guilt. No holidays. No birthdays. No blood transfusions. No involvement in politics or military. Mandatory ministry work. Even his career choice and pursuit of his passions were dictated by his religion.
As a teenager, Justin was offered a major record deal he had to decline and was coerced to end his music career at 19.
Scrambling to support himself, he shifted gears and focused on Real Estate. He flipped his first house at the age of 19, and made a year’s worth of salary in one transaction. Justin caught the entrepreneurial bug and started building his Real Estate Potfolio.
On the surface he seemed to have it all; the beautiful marriage, friends, family, security, a custom built house, and a supportive community.
But Justin felt he was living a lie. There were cracks in the foundation of his core belief system that he could not reconcile. His doubts and subsequent actions, ultimately resulted in his removal from the congregation. Now shunned, he was forced to abandon the only life he knew.
Removed from his wife, family and friends, he began contemplating how to build a life to reclaim his soul, and how to navigate modern society from square one.
At a particularly low point, Justin picked up his guitar which he hadn’t touched in over a decade. Guitar in hand, he felt the reverberating sound of the strings and Justin realized that he was finally free to choose his own path.
His car packed to the brim, he made his way to LA to make up for lost time. In just a few short months in the City of Angels, he scored a Feature Film and became an award winning artist. While making a name for himself in the music industry, a chance encounter with an executive catapulted him into the world of Fashion.
Serving as lead stylist and business developer, he recently helped open a luxury custom clothing company located on Sunset Boulevard, dressing business leaders, professional athletes and celebrities.
